Preußisch Holland's History

 

1288 - The Landowner, Meinhard, of Querfurt began the building of the Dams of the Weichsel River.  He took specialists from Holland for this.  These people founded the city, Preußisch-Holland.

1319 - The German Order built a castle here.

1534 - A school for Latin was built.

1545 - A fortress was built

16th and 17th century - French, Scots and Mennonites immigrated to the area from the Netherlands.

1635 - In the Bartholomäus Church, the peace treaty of the first Swedish-Polish War was constructed.

1714 - The first Garnision was built

1807 - Marshall Bernadotte had his Headquarters here.

1833 - The first newspaper.

1939 - Pr. Holland (polish:  Paslek) had 6345 inhabitants.

It is the birthplace of Joachim Friedrich Henkel
